We have looked back over the past month and collated some of the activities and work streams of the Manaiakalani Programme....

Manaiakalani Education Trust Chair, Pat Snedden and CEO, Jenny Oxley facilitated an online hui for the Trust chairs across our network. We all appreciate their work in service of our schools and enabling the Manaiakalani kaupapa..	This term, the research focuses on gathering voice from leaders, teachers, learners, and whānau. These questionnaires ask a range of questions about reading. If you don’t have access, please get in touch. We are excited to announce PB Tech as our Tech procurement partner (2023-2025). We thank Noel Leeming for their support and partnership over the last five years.	With 4,500+ learners of Pasifika heritage in our network, MET has recently appointed a facilitator to support their schools and teachers. We look forward to sharing more.	Our partnerships extend to the Cook Islands as we plan an inaugural Teacher Summit in the October holidays. Exciting opportunity for those who have registered!	This term we are piloting a series of lessons to add to our Cybersmart delivery under Smart Media.  Google and Squiz Kids News have created content for us to pilot.

Te Purapura Ngātahi o Manaiakalani cluster began in 2021 and spreads across Aotearoa. We have grown to six schools with 2,400 learners. Facilitation and connection are primarily online. Current schools are Yr 1- 8 in both Māori and English mediums.  We look forward to welcoming another new school this term. Some of our schools have been focusing on localised curricula. They are learning about and visiting local areas of significant meaning and working with the local iwi to learn about their culture and identity. Molly    Cole   Pia

June Recap

 As term 2 draws to a close we look back over the month of June and are amazed by the positivity and commitment to supporting ākonga and whānau that we see across the schools in the Manaiakalani Network.

With the unrelenting challenges, current health circumstances have brought to staff and children this term it has been amazing to see creativity and innovation continue to thrive.

We highlight eight of our workstreams below and this month four of the clusters from our network are introduced.

Exciting groundwork is being laid in the digital equity space, with MoE, MET, and Fusion partnering on 3 projects: whānau Internet; the underlying operating system, and a whānau ITC helpdesk.	Thanks so much to all teachers who were observed this term as part of the Manaiakalani Research Programme. Our team really enjoyed being welcomed into your learning spaces and saw lots of amazing reading practice.	Interest keeps growing in the Online Toolkit programme. People have been asking about the rewindable archive, with over 150 searchable recordings	We are wrapping up our Term 2 DFI Cohorts this week with our external recognition day. Well done to all who have completed the DFI and who have gained those certifications as well!
Our kaupapa continues to grow and develop within and alongside kura and the immersion Māori spaces. This year we have had an increased number of kaiako involved in the DFI. This is a reflective DFI blog post from one of the tumuaki.	We welcome 9  Class OnAir Teachers in 2022 from across The Manaiakalani Network. Positive feedback from many clusters who came together for CREATE staff meetings in T2. An opportunity to connect with colleagues and be inspired by Create workshops for teachers, led by teachers (or students in some cases).

On the 31st of May over 150 students were able to connect with each other during the Ako Hiko Student-Led Toolkits. There were online offerings from Kahoot and Flipgrid to Minecraft and Scratch.	On 7 April the Horowhenua Cluster was launched with 15 schools. This first year will see around 53 educators involved in DFI and 30 receiving in-class facilitation - impacting on the 3500+ learners in this cluster.	This Term our students have been learning everything there is to know about Te Ao Maori & Matariki. Check out some outstanding blog posts and see what they have Learnt Created & Shared Navaeh Jayden  Laylah	June 3rd saw New Brighton Catholic School and St Francis of Assisi School staff joining together to extend our understanding of Share to Learn and how we can harness the power of share to accelerate students' learning.

A highlight of any day for me is to take a few minutes to read what our young people have been sharing online.  This blog post by Addison at Rāwhiti School was a delightful example of Learn Create Share - and the engaging confidence of young people who are ‘At Home in a Digital World’.

A lot has been happening in the 14 clusters across the motu and we thought we would highlight some elements of our partnership for you at the end of each month. The headlines below are brief and include links to more information if you have the inclination to explore further.

MET and its community delivery partners have now supported close to 10,000 adults to develop foundation digital skills as part of the DIA-funded Kanorau programme.   Check out the Free Digital course for Manaiakalani school communities Jenny Oxley	The Research team is really enjoying catching up face-to-face this term at the Research Reflections and Middle Leader Sessions. We look forward to analysing rich data from the observations facilitators and school leaders are undertaking this term. Georgie Hamilton	2022 has seen Manaiakalani Device Care take on the role of providing Accidental damage protection for over 2100 learner-owned devices purchased this year.  How to make a claim.   Dave Winter	The Digital Fluency Intensive is well underway with 83 teachers from across the motu learning, creating, and sharing together in term 2. We appreciate the patience and commitment your teachers have through this move to a new sharing platform.  Recent blog posts here Dave Winter	The 2022 cohort of MIT teachers has brought some valuable projects to our network. They have been meeting regularly to support and challenge each others’ projects, both face 2 face and online. Follow their progress Dorothy Burt	110+ teacher registrations for the Secondary Department Discussions this year.  These online meetings are the ideal place to network with high school teachers in specialist subject areas.   Register or view resources and recordings.
